ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS GRAPHIC DISPLAY ANNUNCIATOR General This section describes the graphic display annunciator to be integrated as part of the total security system. In particular, the graphic display will be used to annunciate perimeter and individual building alarm conditions. The graphic display annunciator shall be suitable for wall, console or rack mounting. When provided for console or equipment rack mounting, the annunciator shall be provided to fit and mount within standard 19-inch EIA mounting standards occupying approximately 11 rack spaces. When provided for wall mounting, the annunciator shall be provided with a surface mount enclosure as described later in these specifications. Materials The graphic annunciator panel shall be a standard 19-inch by 19-inch size. The annunciator faceplate shall consist of a .1875 inch 6061-Ti aluminum substrate with a .020 inch poly carbonate graphic display bonded to the aluminum surface. All lamps and other annunciator equipment shall be mounted to the aluminum substrate. The graphic representation of the protected area shall be photographically produced on the reverse (back) side of the polycarbonate sheet. The outside (front) surface of the polycarbonate sheet shall have a non-glare velvet texture surface. The polycarbonate shall be one piece with no holes or penetrations. The graphic presentation shall be provided in one or more of 11 distinct colors as shown on the project plan and details. For example, a typical display will show the fence line and buildings in bright blue; alarm areas and zones in white; and zone nomenclature and wording in red. The faceplate and substrate graphics shall be accurately produced from a single computer-aided-design drawing assuring that the graphic surface will be accurately registered with the aluminum substrate containing the lamps. The polycarbonate sheet shall be bonded to the aluminum substrate using a nonhardening pressure sensitive adhesive. Annunciator lamps shall be multi-element ultrabrite light emitting diodes, Hewlett Packard HL Series, or equal. Each lamp shall be individually attached to the aluminum substrate. The front surface of each lamp shall be in direct contact with the polycarbonate graphic panel providing a 160-degree viewing angle. The graphic shall have a clear area over each lamp that is 25% larger than the lamp front surface. Each lamp shall be easily replaceable from the rear of the panel. Normal lamp colors are red for alarm; green for secure; and yellow for access. Alarm zones shall be displayed with two red alarm lamps; one at each end of the zone extents. Secure and access lamps shall be shown in the center of the zone. The graphic panel shall contain an illuminated legend. The legend shall consist of one each of the types of lamps used in the display. The illumination of the legend lamps shall be adjusted so the brightness is the same as any other active lamp on the display. The legend area shall be bordered and be headed by the word "LEGEND." Each lamp shall be labeled with its function. All connections to the graphic panel shall be via screw-type terminals. Each terminal shall be labeled with the function of the lamp connected to that terminal. A drawing of the graphic wiring connections shall be contained within the panel enclosure. For the cases in which the annunciator is used with a map display driver module, the back of the aluminum substrate shall be drilled and tapped to accept up to two display driver modules. Wiring shall terminate directly to the display driver modules. When surface wall mounting is required, the graphic display panel shall be furnished with a 20-inch by 20-inch by 4-inch cabinet enclosure with smoothly finished corners and surfaces suitable for exposed surface mounting. The cabinet shall be constructed from 16 gauge CRS and finished in marine blue epoxy enamel (other colors available upon request). The graphic panel shall be furnished with a full-length piano type hinge on one side and a tumbler lock mechanism on the other. Two keys shall be provided. The graphic display annunciator shall be a standard product of an established manufacturer. The annunciator shall be the EMPACT MX Series, or equal. FabricatIon Prior to manufacture, the graphic display artwork shall be generated in full scale and provided to the architect or owner for approval. The artwork shall be accurate in every detail including line-widths and lettering fonts. Provide the artwork in sufficient time to allow the architect or owner a minimum of two weeks for review without affecting project schedule. If changes are requested, new full scale artwork incorporating the changes shall be resubmitted for approval. No production shall begin until graphic display artwork is approved. All wiring shall be a minimum 22-gauge with 300-volt color-coded vinyl insulation. Wiring shall be color coded to facilitate future service. Connections shall be either screw terminal or solder where appropriate. All equipment and wiring shall be factory installed in a neat, systematic manner using established wire-harnessing techniques. The wiring harness shall be laced or ty-wrapped at approximate 2-3 inch intervals. The completed graphic display annunciator shall be completely factory tested before shipment to the jobsite. Test documentation and quality control information shall be included with the annunciator. 1 2
