HANDHELD MMP RECEIVER

PURPOSE

Customers have requested a handheld unit that can receive the same information as the standard Mobile Map displays. The unit can be used as a service aid and to deploy additional officers in critical situations.

The Handheld MMP receiver provides a convenient rechargeable battery connection to your Mobile Map Plus radio-graphic display system.

OPERATION

Off-on slide switch provides power to the unit.

On turn-on the audible device sounds three times and the digital display flashes ``88" at the same time.

During normal carrying (non-alarm) operation all lamps and displays are OFF.

Upon alarm:

  • Audible beeps for 8 seconds, or less if acknowledge button is pressed.  Beep rate is approximately once per second.
  • Digital display illuminates to show zone number in alarm 8 seconds, or less if acknowledge button is pressed.
  • Graphic display lights the appropriate zone lamp for 8 seconds, or less if acknowledge button is pressed.
  • After 8 seconds (or following pressing of acknowledge button) all display indications return to blank (saving battery life), but the audible should continue to beep once every 5 seconds until the alarm is cleared by the central control point.
  • While there are alarms present in the unit, pressing the acknowledge button while the displays are blank returns the alarm displays to both the digital display and the graphic display for a period of   5 seconds. The audible alarm continues to beep once every 5 seconds until the alarm is cleared.
  • If subsequent alarms occur during the alarm sleeping period, the alarms will re-illuminate and the audible alarm will sound as if for an individual alarm.

  • When more than one alarm is present, the digital display will cycle through the alarm numbers of the zones in alarm and the graphic display will show the zones in alarm; all for the time periods stated above.

The INT lamp (yellow) will flash with each PLL lock as with the current MMP operation.

The REC lamp (red) will not light unless a valid alarm or supervisory signal has NOT been received for a period of 8 minutes. When the REC lamp is lighted it will flash at a once-per- 5-second rate, and the audible alarms emits a ``chirp" signal indication to the officer that there is a problem.

Low-battery condition is indicated by a slowly flashing ``88" on the digital display and the chirping of the audible, as in REC above.

Actual operation is subject to change without notice based on final programming.  All information contained in this document is Copyright CDT 1998, and is to be used only as information for our customers.
