NEW FEATURES

The RANS-DV system is the next evolution of the Roving Alarm Notification System (RANS) and provides significantly more features than the previous     RANS-Voice System. 

• Utilizes the newest and most versatile Voice microprocessor available.
• All project-specific information is stored in on-board electrically erasable memory. Programmable with a PC computer and special software.
• Capable of up to 256 relay input alarms (with additional input terminal boards), or RS-232 serial computer input.
• Channel-Alert function allows non-interferring operation on existing radio channels.
• Built-in test features allow troubleshooting in the field without the need of special test equipment.
• Electronic volume control with voice prompting.
• Voice prompting for all test functions.

• Continued pressing of the button until you hear the word ``message" causes the system to transmit through the local loudspeaker each preprogrammed alarm message for each programmed alarm input.
• Continued pressing of the button until you hear the word ``CD log" causes the system to tell you in normal English through the local loudspeaker the number of times the system has had to wait due to conflicting operation of another system on the same radio frequency.
• Continued pressing of the button until you hear the word ``program" causes the system to enter the program mode. This mode is only available when the system is first powered and should not be used the field.

RS-232 INTERFACE SOFTWARE

The serial computer connection can be interfaced to any PC computer using a standard interconnection cable. The RANS has a DB-9F connector for this purpose. Alarms are transmitted to the RANS encoder circuit board using a simplified command set. The command information and sample software diskette is available from CDT.

SPECIAL TEST FEATURES

The system test pushbutton and lamp are utilized to activate a number of special test features:

1. The test lamp flashes rapidly during relay output operation at the alarm input scan rate. The lamp indicates that the relay inputs are being actively scanned. The lamp flashes more slowly during serial input operation to show that the input is ready to receive alarm information.
2. The system test pushbutton starts a number of test functions depending on the length of time pressed.
3. A momentary press energizes the system test transmission which sends the test signal and the test voice message to the remote devices.
4. Pressing the button until you hear the word ``tone" causes the system to produce a constant tone which is helpful for adjusting the radio transmission system.
