The system test LED now flashes rapidly each time the input alarm points are scanned. This shows that scanning is taking place. When there is an alarm on the system, the LED stops flashing and goes to steady on while the alarm message is being sent. The transmit lamp lights when the alarm is being sent to the transmitter.

The system test button can provide several new tests:

• Momentarily pressing the test button will send a test message including the tines used to activate the portable alarm receivers.
• Holding the test button until you hear the word ``tone," and then releasing the button provides the transmission of a constant tone which can be used to set the transmitter deviation.
• Holding the test button until you hear the word ``message," and then releasing the button enables the system to produce each alarm message, one after another, for all alarm points in the system.

• Holding the test button until you hear the word ``CD log," and then releasing the button enables the system to tell you in English language the number of times that the carrier-detect feature has been activated because of interference with another radio signal.
• Holding the test button until you hear the word ``program," and then releasing the button puts the system into the program mode. This feature is only available for a few minutes following power up and should not be used in the field. If this feature is activated, unplug power from the encoder unit to reset.

These test features are being incorporated into the manual. This technical note furnishes the information until the manual can be reprinted.
